Buhari exchanges Pleasantries with ardent critic, Fayose at Council of State meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari  on Thursday met with the governors, including his ardent critics like Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and former president Olusegun Obasanjo who recently urged him not to re contest in 2019.

It was on a day Buhari held the National Council of State meeting which includes governors and former past leaders of the country.

The president exchanged pleasantries with every one including one of his ardent critics, Governor  Fayose, with whom he shook hands.

Others with whom the president shook hands was Obasanjo and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State.

Most of the governors like Rochas Okorocha of Imo State looked bewildered as Buhari was exchanging pleasantries with Fayose.

Foremer military head of state, retired Gen. Yakubu Gowon was also at the villa for the meeting along with retired General Abdusalam Abubakar, another military head of state.

President Buhari summoned a meeting of the Council of State to deliberate on key national issues.

  

The meeting, which started at 11 a.m, is being attended by three former presidents, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, four former Chief Justices of Nigeria, Senate President Bukola Saraki and state governors.

Four former Chief Justices of Nigeria who attended the meeting are Justice Muhammad Uwais, Idris Kutigi, Mariam Alooma and Justice Alfa Belgore.
