The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) on Thursday, February 22, urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to quickly address the challenges surrounding the ongoing voter registration exercise in the country.

They were concerned about the reported cases of under-aged registration going on in parts of the North, particularly Kano.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had promised President Muhammadu Buhari five million votes if he offers himself again for reelection in 2019.

In the communiqué released at the closing mass of the 2018 First Plenary in Abuja signed by Most Reverend Ignatius Kaigama, the CBCN challenged the INEC to stop the registration of the under-aged.
