EFCC grills Ex-Aviation Minister, Stella Odua over airport contracts

The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, February 26, played host to Senator Stella Odua, former minister of aviation over allegations that she mismanaged the funds given to her ministry for the rebuilding of certain airports in the country.

Senator Odua was said to have been invited to explain how she utilised the more than N9 billion earmarked for the renovation of the airports and particularly, for the provision of security facilities at the airports.

Senator Odua spent substantial part of the day answering questions from the EFCC operatives and was allowed to go and asked to return as the investigation into the airport matter is continuing.

The Enugu International Airport, Port Harcourt International Airport, the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, among others were some of the airports reportedly renovated during Senator Odua’s tenure as minister.

During her tenure as well, there was a scandal of purchase of bulletproof cars running into millions of naira. following the scandal, former President Goodluck Jonathan relieved her of the position of minister after so much hue and cry attended the alleged purchase of the bulleproof official cars.
