The absence of the President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki at the All Progressive Congress (APC) caucus meeting in Abuja on Monday, February 26 is making tongues to wag.

Saraki was conspicuously absent at the meeting which was presided by President Muhammadu Buhari and had in attendance, the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, the national chairman, John Odigie- Oyegun, the national leader, Bola Tinubu, the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, among other prominent members.

Sources said Saraki’s absence was being interpreted as a slight on the National Executive Council  (NEC) of APC, with many reasoning that the senate president may still not be at home with the party due to certain personalities.

Saraki has been fighting a battle of survival in the senate since he was elected president against the wish of the powers that be in APC who wanted a different person to emerge.

Saraki is facing the Code of Conduct Bureau over false declaration of asset as governor of Kwara State for eight years, and has  resisted some of the policies of the Buhari-led administration which some party chieftains see as anti-party.
