President Muhammadu Buhari departs Nigeria today for the United Kingdom ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting scheduled for April 18 to 20.
Presidential Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Garba Shehu, said in a statement on Sunday in Abuja that Buhari will use the opportunity to meet with Chief Executive Officer of Royal Dutch Plc, Ben Van Beurden in connection with Shell and other partners’ plan to invest $15b in Nigeria’ s oil industry.
The oil and gas investment will boost domestic gas production with its attendant benefits to both countries.
More importantly, the president will have discussion with the British Prime Minister. Theresa May on Nigeria/ Britain’s relationship.
Shehu said Buhari would use the trip to renew chat with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby on inter religious harmony in Nigeria and all over the world.
Buhari will also seat in audience with Nigerians in the UK and other prominent Britons.
