Former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, has assured leaders and members of the pan-Yoruba social cultural group, Afenifere, of the commitment of former vice president and 2019 Presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, to the real restructuring of Nigeria.
Daniel made this declaration in Akure on Tuesday while addressing a caucus meeting of the group on the need to develop a strong political structure to engage the country on the interests of the Yoruba people.
“Alhaji Atiku Abubakar remains one of the very few northern politicians and leaders who, not only believes in the concept of restructuring but shares equal passion with well meaning Yoruba leaders for its actualisation which is a sine-qua-non to political participation in the Southwest,” Daniel said.
On his perceived involvement in the Atiku campaign, Daniel assured eminent Yoruba leaders present at the occasion of his readiness to work with all of them to ensure Atiku becomes President in 2019.
Leaders and members of the group took turn to applaud the supportive roles of Daniel in the sustenance of the Afenifere and his believe in the unwavering support for the progress of Yoruba race.
The meeting was chaired by Afenifere leader, Chief Reuben Fashoranti, with other leaders in attendance including Chief Olu Falae, Senator Banji Akintoye, Senator Femi Okurounmu, former Governor Segun Mimiko, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Adegbenka Kaka, Dr. Akingba and a host of other distinguished leaders across Yorubaland.
