The headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria almost got charred on Tuesday as a result of problem from one of the apex bank’s generating sets.
Insinuations were rife that the bank was actually on fire and reporys trended on the social media platforms until the authorities clarified the situation.
Assistant director of the CBN, Isaac Okoroafor said in a statement that there was no truth in the trending report of inferno at the bank.
Okoroafor said what was mistaken for fire on the bank building was a pall of smoke that arose from one of the generating sets which suddenly developed problem amd was accordingly put off.
The apex bank’s spokesman also added they have an internal security setting that alerts workers of any danger, including fire outbreak, adding that as soon as the pall of smoke was noticed from the faulty generator it was turned off and turned in for repairs.
