President Muhammadu Buhari will soon sigh the 2018 budget into law as members in the National Assembly have finally transmitted the 2018 budget to the executive.
The lawmakers did on Friday after harmonising the document regardless of their party affiliation.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, who confirmed the transmission said: “I have received the budget on behalf of the Presidency. I am transmitting it now.”
Senate President Bukola Saraki had on Thursday while breaking fast with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, said the budget will be transmitted Friday for assent.
Both chambers of the National Assembly had on May 16, approved the budget estimates submitted by Buhari on November 7, 2017 after making some adjustments.
The lawmakers had raised the proposal from Buhari from N8.6 trillion to N9.1 trillion after tinkering with it for six months.
With the transmission, it is hoped that Buhari will soon sign the document into law before implementation will start to take place.
