The directive dished out to indigenes of the states in the South East and South South to remain indoors on Wednesday as a way of marking the day of the declaration of the defunct Republic of Biafra did not receive total support.

From the states in South East like Abia, Anambra, Ebony , Enugu and Imo, to  others in the South South of Delta, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Bayelsa and Rivers, the compliance was not total this year contrary to what happened last year.

Most traders in Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi among other cities within Anambra opened their shops for business while other refused.

The situation was the same in Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River.

In some states the police arrested some persons believed to be IPOB members which government said last month is proscribed.

Many of those who stayed indoors said they will never forget what the Igbo were made to pass through during the civil war.

Some IPOB members used the opportunity to renew their call for the release of their leader, Nnamdi Kalu whom they said have been missing.
