Chairman, Punch Newspapers, Wale dies from open heart surgery in Lagos

Chairman, Punch newspapersGbadebowale Aboderin, has been confirmed dead from an open heart surgery in Lagos.

He died on Wednesday at about 6.05 am after a heart surgery at the First Cardiology Consultants, Ikoyi, Lagos at the age of 60.

His death has disorganised the Aboderins and the Punch which their late father founded many years ago.

Wunmi, Gbadebowale’s sister went to the hospital to take her brother’s corpse on Thursday.

While alive, Wale was  also Chairman of Punch Commercial Printing Limited and Lukahed Properties Limited.

He attended the Government College, Ibadan and trained as a pilot in the United States.

He loved sports so much and invested his resources in it. He was the founder and chairman of the Dolphins Female  Basketball Foundation, and also a former chairman of the Lagos State Basketball Association.

He was also a philanthropist.

He was at a time, vice-president of the Nigerian Basketball Supporters Club.

Wale was married and is survived by his wife, Titilayo, children and the sisters.
