The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has appointed Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, as the new secretary for the party’s national convention taking place on June 23.

He is replacing Senator Ben Uwajumogu who resigned his position because the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha where he hails from said he was uncomfortable with him on the appointment because of the role he played during the recently held ward and local government congresses.

In his letter of resignation, Uwajumogu cited  “domestic” reasons beyond his control for quitting, but Armadanews.com got it on good authority that Okorocha complained bitterly that his presence on the committee would not be fair to him.

Ndoma-Egba has confirmed that he has received a letter from the APC NWC on the position.

He will be working with the chairman of the convention, Jigawa State Governor Abubakar Badaru and other members.

Uwajumogu and other APC chieftains from Imo had complained about the highhandedness of Okorocha in the affairs of the party and had proceeded to sensitize the bulk of the APC members in the state on the need to reclaim the party from Okorocha’s grip. They succeeded when the ward, local government and state congresses were held and the choice candidates of the majority of the members emerge to the consternation of the governor and his own camp.

A member of the Uwajumogu camp told Armadanews.com at the weekend that his removal from the committee will not affect anything.
