All Federal High Court in Nigeria will from Monday, July 9 proceed on their annual long vacation for the year 2018.
A circular issued in that respect from the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Abdu Adamu Kafarati, said the vacation was in pursuant to the provisions of Order 46 Rule 4(a) of the Federal High Court Civil Procedure Rules 2009.
The vacation begins Monday July 9 and ends Friday, September 14 , 2018.
The circular signed by the Chief Judge said during the vacation, only the core divisions – Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt, will be functional, hence litigants can approach only the named courts.
The the circular said the Abuja division will entertain cases from the Federal Capital Territory, North Central, North Western, and the North Eastern parts of the country.
The Lagos division will take cases from the Western parts of the country, while the Port Harcourt division will cater for cases from the South-South and South-East.
“Only cases of extreme urgency, such as arrest of ships and fundamental rights cases, are to be entertained during the period,” the circular added.
Justice Muslim Hassan and Justice (Prof.) Chuka Obiozor were named vacation judges for the duration in Lagos division.
Also, the circular further noted that the 2018/2019 Federal High Court Legal Year and Annual Judges Conference, will hold from September 17 to September 20.
