Nigeria’s former Chief Justice, Katsina-Alu dies at 77

Justice Aloysius Iyorgyer Katsina-Alu, former Chief Justice of Nigeria, is dead.

Family sources said he died at about 2 am Wednesday at Cida Orthopaedic Hospital, Gudu, Abuja.

Katsina-Alu, who was CJN between 2009 and 2011, hailed from Benue State.

He would have been 77 years on August 28.

Family sources said that the former CJN had been battling with serious health issues that affected his internal organs for several years.

It was said that plans were in top gear to fly him abroad for treatment before he died at the Abuja hospital.

His death has thrown his community in Tse Alu, Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State into mourning. Some of the mourners expressed their sadness over his death.

Katsina-Alu was the 10th indigenous CJN and the first from Benue State.
