With the desperation of Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state and the Assembly to remove him from office through impeachment, the deputy governor, Eze Madumere has said he was confident he will prevail because there is God.
Madumere broke his silence on Monday, saying the God of justice is still on the throne just as he thanked Imo people and other god-fearing Nigerians for standing on the path of justice since his ordeal with Okorocha began.
A statement issued in Owerri on Monday by Madumere, entitled ‘Thank You for Your Support,’ said: “I can no longer constrain myself holding back my ecstasy occasioned by the outpouring of your love, concern and great support for me since the onslaught on my person began. You keep making out time to defend, protect and fight for me even when I have not spoken.
“If your voices have spoken justice, yes I have got justice. Since you said it is no sin to stand with the people, my God will fight for you. The Holy Scripture says in Micah 6:8: “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
“That is where I stand. It is either we deal with the people justly, kindly or no deal at all. Guess what: “If I fail to stand for justice; fighting that we might be dealt with justly; that the will of the people may be done; I sure will care less. The truth is that as long as there is God in heaven, I shall never fail!”
He also noted: “Imolites have never been this united. We have even torn the veil of political divides to shreds as my brothers from other political parties have spoken out – Rt. Emeka Ihedioha, Hon. Nwawuba, Okey Eze among other notable leaders. I say thank you.
“For those of you who have had to go on radio on your own accord and some others kept vigil to ensure their voices are heard. Others have used social media platforms to say their minds. I will say keep it up and never you drop your guards against injustice because victory will surely be ours.”
“I will never quiver nor be downcast for whatever intimidation or persecution in as much as my stand is in tandem with the will of God and the expectation of our people. I want to promise that I shall speak to you soonest because it is even long overdue,” the deputy governor declared.
