Damkwambo declares for presidency

Ibrahim Dankwambo, governor of Gombe state has declared interest in the office of the president of Nigeria.

Dankwambo did on Saturday when he met with his people of Gombe informing them of his intention to run for the presidency in 2019.

His entry into the race is swaying the number of aspirants for the presidency on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party.

So far, former vice president Atiku Abubakar, former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido, former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Markafi, former Governor of Kano state, Musa Rabuy Kwankwozo are all in the race.

Senator Bukola Saraki as the Senate President who defected from the All Progressive Congress is also being asked to join in the race for the PDP presidency in 2019.

Dankwambo is in his second term as governor and is rated as one of the governors who have changed the fortunes of his state.

When he asked his people whether to joun the race for presidency they all chorused yes.

Dankwambo said the return of politicians from the APC to the PDP is welcome development.
