Senate minority leader, Akpabio visits Buhari in London, set to join APC

Akpabio stooping in surrender to Buhari

 

The news is becoming real.

Many weeks of speculations will give way to reality this week baring any unforseen circumstances when the Senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio defects to the ruling All Progressive Congress.

Akpabio, former two term governor of Akwa Ibom state on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party and now the PDP minority leader in the senate  is already in London to visit President Muhammadu Buhari and rap up things.

Back home before Akpabio travelled at the weekend he had met with vice president Yemi Osinbajo and APC national leader, Bola Tinubu.

Akpabio is believed to be running away from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over a dossier the agency has on him that are corruption related while he was in office.

Akpabio and his governor, Udom Emmanuel who he helped to instal recently started differing on political and monetary issues affecting the state.

Akpabio is believed to be wooed into the APC to spite Senate President Bukola Saraki.

The APC leaders are also thinking of using Akpabio to dangle the senate presidency slot to the South South if the party wins the zone next year.

The PDP leadership is worried that Akpabio was a mole and was exposed to so much sensitive information as the party minority leader in the senate.
