The House of Representatives intends to reconvene next week, August 14 to consider the supplementary budget sent to the lawmakers by President Muhammadu Buhari for the Independent National Electoral Commission budget for 2019 poll.

The lawmakers have been on vacation and had hoped to resume by September.

But the limited time available to the INEC had made it imperative that the Commission gets its fund to enable them carry out adequate preparation for the election.

The Senate President Bukola Saraki had summoned a meeting of the leadership of the NASS on Tuesday August 7 to reconvene to consider the supplementary budget but the day was marred by the invasion of the national assembly by security operatives causing Saraki to cancel the meeting.

At a world press conference Saraki addressed on Wednesday , August 8, Saraki wondered why Buhari did not consider it necessary to present the supplementary budget on time but assured the NASS will give it accelerated hearing.

On Thursday the House of Representatives promised to meet next week to do the needful.
