The Central Bank of Nigeria has slamed a fine of $8.13b on MTN and four banks for unprofessional conduct.
The banks are Standtrust, Stanbic IBTC, Citibank and Diamond.
The CBN Deputy Director Issac Okoroafor said on Wednesday the banks and the leading GSM telephone provider breached foreign exchange deal.
They varoiusly and individually ignored the statutory approval required of them to carry out the forex transaction.
