The opposition People’s Democratic Party has said the travel ban placed on 50 high profile Nigerians by the presidency shows that President Muhammadu Buhari administration is sliding into fascism.
The presidency said on Saturday in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Buhari, Garba Shehu, that 50 Nigerians he did not name have been placed on travel ban.
The Attorney General of the Federation amd Minister of Justice , Abubakar Malami had been directed to do the needful by Buhari in response to the court order that empowered thw President to fully operationalise the Executive Order regarding corrupt Nigerians and their property acquired with illicit fund.
But the PDP has kicked against the travel ban saying Buhari amd his party, the All Progressive Congress are threatened and jittery over the emergence of Former vice president Atiku Abubakar and the positive viibes coming from his emergence.
The PDP alleged that the attempt to ban Nigerians was illegal and a plot to stifle the business interest of many Nigerians who are already excited about sacking Buhari from office next year.
More importantly, the PDP said the idea is dictatorial and speaks volumes about Buhari’s fascist tendencies.
The PDP spokeaman, Kola Ologbondiyan urged Nigerians to be vigilant as Buhari was yet to shed his authoritarian tendencies in a democracy.
