Boy, three, rescued alive from 150 feet borehole in Imo State after 24 hrs

A three-year old boy has been rescued alive from a borehole, about 150 feet at Ezeoke Nsu in Ehime Mbano local government area of Imo state.

 

He was rescued after 24 hours, with the community erupting in jubilation

It took the efforts of the  Ehime Mbano LG council chairman, the Divisional Police Office in the area, the Ezeoke Nsu, Cathedral of St Paul Okigwe South Diocese, and community and the youths, all of who made concerted efforts that led to the boy’s rescue.

 

Kinsley Chukwu, the Chief Press Secretary to Ehime Mbano LGA Chairman issued a statement on the incident.

“At about 1 midnight today 16th October, 2018, Hon Reginald Nwosu, the executive chairman of Ehime Mbano received a severance call from Nsu, that a child fell into a pit, he then rushed to the site same midnight, good number of youths, villagers were on ground but all their efforts proved abortive.

 

“The governor of Imo state was contacted, forthwith, he sent the fire service team, they tried till 3 am, but the dept was much. Amid confusion and altercation, the Ehime DPO suggested digging a wider pit close to the pit where unto the three year old child fell into, which they later obliged.

 

“When it was confirmed that the boy was still alive, food and water were tired in a rope and sent to him.

 

“However, digging of a twin pit was done until about 4 pm on 17 October when 70 feet dept was achieved. Then, a link was created between the two pits, forthwith, a sack was tired on a long rope and dropped into the main pit where the boy was.

 

“To God be the glory, the boy went into the sack and they drew him out.

 

“While all these where going on, the governor was calling in, when it seemed almost difficult, the governor sent Roche construction company, though they arrived when the deed has been done.

 

“The boy is right now receiving treatment.

 

“Kudos to Hon Reginald Nwosu, the executive chairman of Ehime Mbano LGA who was around from morning till evening, who also answered a midnight call in a bid to rescue the child,

 

“Great thanks goes to the DPO Ehime Mbano, Supol Chime Ogoma who was on ground directing and motivating and providing security and others including the Secretary of the council, Hon Frank Ikpa who stood beside the chairman, local government and the deputy chairman.

 

“The Bishop of Okigwe south, in whose Cathedral the incident occurred, Rt Rev Onuoha, Ven Charles Akabuiro who also gave me a run down on the present situation of the boy in the hospital and other clergy members.

 

“The prayers of uncountable sympathizer were also helpful.

“Thanks to Hon Lawman Duruji who was in touch with our team and also gave the hard fighting boys N200, 000 as thank you offering

 

“May Jesus be honoured.”
