Usoro, NBA President docked over money laundering

Paul Usoro, President of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has been docked by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accused of money laundering.

Usoro was arraigned before Justice Muslim Hassan of the Federal High  Court Lagos Nigeria on a 10-count charge on alleged offences bordering on money laundering.

He pleaded not guilty on all the counts and the court admitted him to bail in the sum of N250 million with one surety in like sum.

The surety, the court ruled must be a civil servant who must not be below a Grade level 14 officer.


Usoro and his surety were also asked to deposit their travel documents with the chief registrar of the Federal High Court.


The matter was adjourned to Februay 5 and March 6, 2019 fro trial.

Usoro was to be arraigned last week but his arraignment was deferred.

Former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Chidi Odinkalu had raised the alarm when Usoro was gunning for the NBA president that he was not suitable to run for the office due to corrupt allegations leveled against him.
