84m Nigerians to vote in 2019 general election

The Independent National Electoral Commission has released the consolidated list of legible voters for the 2019 general election which is more than 84 million.

The Independent National Electoral Commission national chairman Yakubu Mahmoud gave the indication on Monday while briefing leaders of political parties.

Mahmoud also handed the list of voters to the parties ahead of the elections.

The figure is about 2 million higher than what was recorded in 2015.

Lagos has the highest number of registered voters followed by Kano amd Kaduna while Ekiti has the lowest.

The northwest also recorded more voters followed by Southwest, North central, Northeast and South East.

According to INEC, more male voters are expected to vote this year than women just as the bulk of the youth constitute the voters.
