Nigerian senate reconvenes on Tuesday, January 29 to deliberate on the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria Walter Onnoghen.
Onnoghen was suspended on Friday by President Muhammadu Buhari and replaced with Justice Tanko Mohammed.
Following condemnation over his suspension, the senate which had earlier suspended pleanary toll February 19 after the presidential election resolved to return on Tuesday over the embattled Onnoghen.
The senate had adjourned sitting on Thursday, January 24.
Meanwhile, the national assembly plans a leadership session on Sunday still on Onnoghen’s suspension.
Senate President Bukola Saraki said on Friday that Onnoghen’s suspension was akin to a coup and capable of derailing Nigeria’s democracy.
