President Muhammadu Buhari, his party, the All Progressive Congress and the People’s Democratic Party have expressed their disappointment with the Independent National Electoral commission for postponing the general election biled to start today, Saturday February 16.
Buhari expressed disappointment in a statement by his media aide, Garba Shehu from Dàura in Katsina state.
Buhari wondered why INEC should shift the polls after the International election monitors and Nigerians have prepared their minds for it, and after four years of preparing for the exercise.
The APC also expressed worry but asked Nigerians to be patient with the electoral body.
For the PDP, the INEC chairman. Yakubu Mahmoud should resign for incompetence and lies.
Uche Secondus, the PDP National Chairman insists that Mahmood resigns even as the party said the postponement was part of the rigging plot of the APC.
The INEC rescheduled the presidential and national assembly elections to February 23 while the governorship and state assembly elections originally slated for March 2 now holds on March 9.
Nigerians have been condemning the postponement because of the cost implications and inconveniences it has caused them.
Mahmoud hopes to speak to stakeholders by 2pm today on the postponement.
