Buhari wins Zamfara, Atiku takes Delta

President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has continued with his winning streak on the presidential election conducted in Zamfara State on February 23.

 

Buhari was announced winner of the election by the Returning Officer, Prof. Kabiru Bala at the end of collation on Tuesday in Gusau.

 

Bala said Buhari polled 438,682 votes to beat Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 125,423 votes.

 

The margin between Buhari and Atiku is 313,259 votes.

 

Bala also reported that many of the local government returning officers complained of attacks by hoodlums leading to the rejection of a total of 18,785 votes across the 14 local government areas of the state.

 

Bala proceeds to Abuja for submission at the national collation centre.

 

Also on Tuesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared that Atiku winner of the presidential election conducted in Delta State.  Atiku got 594,068 votes while Buhari polled 221,292 votes.

 

State Collating Officer, Prof. Seth Jaja of Federal University, Otuoke, announced the result in Asaba on Tuesday.

 

Jaja said Atiku won in 23 local government areas out of 25 in the state.

 

The councils include: Aniocha South, Aniocha North, Oshimili South, Oshimili North, Ika South, Ika North-East, Burutu, Sapele, Ughelli South, Okpe, Warri South, Warri South West, Warri North and Udu.

 

Others are Ethiope West, Bomadi, Uvwie, Isoko North, Isoko South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Burutu and Patani.

 

He said Buhari won in Ethiope East and Ughelli North.

 

Delta State had 2,719,313 registered voters, with 891, 647 voters were accredited for the election.

 

Total valid votes cast were 829,762, while 52,492 were rejected.
