The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha is set to be declared winner of the governorship election held on Saturday, March 9.

If the result from the 27 local government areas already collated is anything to go by, Ihedioha flowed his closest rival, Uche Nwosu, who is the candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) with more than 125,000 votes and the candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Hope Uzodinma, All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Ifeanyi Araraume and Accord Party (AP), Ikedi Ohakim with more than 160, 000 votes.

Ihedioha’s votes, in excess of 250,000 was garnered from all the 27 local government areas of Imo state where the total number of votes cast was in excess of 617,000.

Nwosu is being supported by Governor Rochas Okorocha who wanted to impose him on Imo by force even when his party members, the APC, resisted the imposition.

Okorocha was suspended by the APC leadership because of his anti-party activities linked to his fixation on imposing Nwosu.
