Jubilation has taken over the entire Imo state landscape as indigenes celebrate the final announcement of the PDP candidate, Emeka Ihedioha, as the winner of the governorship poll held on Saturday, March 9.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had completed the collation from all the 27 local government areas with the State Electoral Commissioner expected to announce the final result.

Ihedioha won in 13 local government areas and is leading his closest rival, Uche Nwosu of the  Action Alliance (AA) with more than 100,000 votes garnered across the 27 local governments.

Ihedioha got more than 270,000 votes after the last local government election result was collated.

Supporters of the PDP candidate and others from other political parties have joined the rest of the Imolites in the jubilation, and waiting patiently for INEC to make the final pronouncement.

Ihedioha’s Mbaise town became electrifying as soon as the last local government submitted its result and their son coasted home to victory.

One of the the political parties, the Action People’s Party (APP) had already congratulated Ihedioha on his impressive outing.

Most of those celebrating Ihedioha’s victory say they cannot wait to see the back of governor Rochas Okorocha and his group of sycophants that held the state captive for eight years.
