Another Building Collapses On Lagos Island, Many Feared Dead

Barely a week a three-storey building collapsed in Ita Faji area of Adeniji Adele in Lagos Island, killing about 20m persons, including school pupils, another building has also collapsed in Lagos, leaving many feared killed.

 

Sahara Reporters reported that she building is located at 57, Egerton Square, Oke Arin, Lagos Island.

 

“The development is coming barely one week after another building collapsed at Ita Faji, Lagos Island, killing 20 persons, including school children, while more than 40 people sustained injuries.

 

“The building was one of those marked for demolition,: the online newspaper said.

 

Following the Ita Faji experience, Lagos state government ordered the demolition of 80 buildings believed to have structural defects.

 

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode had told sympathisers when he visited the scene of the Ita Faji collapsed building that the landlords were posing challenges to the government in bringing down the faulty houses.

 

The demolition has however started during the weekend on the Lagos Island.
