An Abuja magistrate court at Mpape has granted bail to Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Osun State governorship election in 2019.
The court granted him N2 million bail after his arraignment on Tuesday.
Adeleke, who currently represents Osun west senatorial district, was charged to court by the police for alleged certificate forgery.
The police had said they have fresh evidence against the senator, prompting his detention on Monday.
The police indicated on Monday that Adeleke would be arraigned on Tuesday.
The PDP has condemned his trial and arraignment and described it as persecution and witch hunt.
