The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has moved the Bayelsa and Kogi governorship elections earlier scheduled for November 2 to November 16.
The INEC announced a shift in date for governorship elections on Thursday.
Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State had earlier written to INEC soliciting a shift in the date on the basis that November 2 is celebrated as Thanksgiving Day in the state.
But a statement by INEC spokesman and chairman of committee on voter education, Festus Okoye, said the decision was taken “after a careful consideration of the appeals” during the commission’s regular weekly meeting held on Thursday.
