All the governors whose tenure ended on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 have vacated both their offices and government Houses.
With that, they have paved the way for their successors to take over power from them after their inauguration on Wednesday, May 29, 2019.
The governors who were seen exiting their offices and the government houses included Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos), Abdullaziz Yari (Zamfara), Kashim Shettima (Borno), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Mohammed Abubakar (Bauchi), Tanko Umaru Al-Makura (Nasarawa) among others.
Most of the governors were seen leaving the government house with their family members and their security details.
Ambode handed over to Babajide Sanwo-Olu earlier in the day and proceeded to issue a statement announcing the end of his tenure.
In the affected states, all is set for their inauguration as other activities lined up before the inauguration had taken place.
From Owerri, the capital of Imo state, our correspondent learnt that all the hotels were fully booked as at Monday, May 27, and that by Tuesday, most of the visitors to the state were clamoring for where to stay.
Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha is the governor -elect and is expected to be sworn in on Wednesday, May 29, together with his deputy, Gerald Irona.
Imo indigenes believe Okorocha’s tenure brought pains and dehumanisation on them and have been celebrating the end of Okorocha’s tenure.
