Nigerians have been making jest of the National chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, after he breached protocol at the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office on Wednesday.
It was an embarrassment that Oshiomhole least expected when he had joined the line of dignitaries to receive Buhari who had arrived the Eagles Square at about 10 am for a red-carpet reception.
Those statutorily on the line to receive the president include the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, Acting Chief Justice Of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad, and the service chiefs.
Oshiomhole thought his position as the APC chairman was an automatic ticket for the role, but he got the shocker of his life when he was approached politely by a military officer to leave his position beside the acting CJN and return to his seat.
For instance, in a tweet Wednesday, Chidi Odinkalu, former Chairman of National Human Rights Commission mocked Oshiomhole for his action.
Odinkalu asked: “So, Adams Oshiomhole is too conceited to realise that Inauguration is a State occasion not a party event?”
