EFCC arrests Okorocha, wife, seize private university

Rochas Okorocha, immediate former governor of Imo statehas been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), reports say.

 

His wife, Nkechi, was also arrested.

 

Okorocha left office on May 28, having served eight years of two four-year terms of office.

 

The EFCC reportedly stormed Okorocha’s home town, Ogboko, took him,  his wife, and the governors’  –  Gerald Okorocha and Okey Okorocha.

 

The Eastern Palm University Ogboko believed to be owned by Okorocha was reportedly sealed.

 

On May 28 while delivering his valedictory speech, Okorocha said he was aware the EFCC was after him.

 

The EFCC acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu, recently confirmed that Okorocha was under investigation.

 

…EFCC Denies Arrest

 

But the EFCC has denied the arrest.

 

Spokesman of the Commission, Tony Orilade, described the reports as “fake news.”

 

“We don’t investigate the source of disinformation. We investigate financial and economic crimes. So, if anybody is quoting us, we can then take it up,” Orilade said.
