Senator Ike Ekweremadu on Tuesday lost the seat of the deputy senate President of the 9th NASS to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
Ekweremadu comes from Enugu while Omo-Agege comes from Delta state and both are ranking members of the senate even though Ekweremadu has been holding the office for more than 10 years now having served two senare presidents- Danid Mark and Bukola Saraki.
While Omo-Agege polled 68 votes as against Ekweremadu’s 37 votes.
A total of 107 senators elect were accredited for the exercise and the voting pattern was open secret system
Only 105 senators elect participated in the voting.
There was one invalid vote and one absentee.
The clerk of the NASS announced the result and also swore in Omo-Agege supported by the senate President Ahmed Lawan.
Governors of the APC as well as the National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole and former ministers were at the NASS to congratulate Lawan and Omo-Agege on their election.
Omo- Agege has the record of leading thugs to the chambers of 8th senate to snatch the mace.
