The Supreme Court will Friday, July 5 decide who between Governor Gboyega Oyetola and Senator Ademola Adeleke who actually should be the governor of Osun State.

Consequently, anxiety has pervaded the Osun landscape and even beyond as supporters of both Oyetola and Adeleke are waiting patiently for the apex court to make the final pronouncement that will put the matter to final rest.

Oyetola is of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while Adeleke ran on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The election seemed to be favouring Adeleke when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared it inconclusive and called for a rerun.

After the rerun, Oyetola won by slim margin in a contest many believed was hugely influenced by the APC big guns.

Adeleke proceeded to the Tribunal which held that he won the case. Oyetola appealed the ruling of the Tribunal at the Appeal court which also ruled in his favour.

Again, Adeleke proceeded to the apex court where he prayed that he should be returned winner of the election and restored to office accordingly.

The Supreme Court sat lat week to consider the case and fixed Friday, July 5 for ruling.

Three scenarios could play out on Friday when the apex court rules- ordering for a fresh election, upholding Oyetola’s election as ruled by the Appeal court or dismissing it and returning Adeleke as governor based on the ruling of the tribunal.
