The Supreme court of Nigeria has affirmed that Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressive Congress was duly elected governor of Osun state last year.

The apex court ruled in Oyetola’s favour in the appeal brought before it by candidate of the People’s Democratic Party Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Adeleke had earlier been pronounced winner by the Osun State governorship election tribunal causing Oyetola to proceed to the Appeal court which upturned the decision of the tribunal.

Adeleke approached the apex court to dismiss the ruling of the Appeal court that favoured Oyetola.

Ruling on the case Friday, the Supreme Court not only affirmed the ruling of the Appeal court but said Oyetola was duly returned as Osun state governor.

There is jubilation in Osogbo the state capital and other parts of the state as well as the at the APC secretariat in Abuja.
