Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have raided the Epe Lagos home of former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
TheCable reported that the EFCC spokesman Tony Orinade confirmed the raid, but no reasons were given.
But Armadanews.com learnt that the raid may be connected to the recent case where N9billion was reportedly allegedly mismanaged in the office of tge former Governor towards the end of his tenure.
Ambode had washed his hands off the allegations saying no such sum was in his personal account.
The permanent Secretary in the office of the Governor was being accused of complicity in the alleged money laundering of the N9billion.
The EFCC is already in court with the Permanent Secretary and listed Ambode and the matter comes up next month.
Ambode fell out with his political godfather Bola Tinubu who ensured he never got a renewal of his tenure.
Timubu also frustrated the efforts to nominate Ambode minister ny President Muhammadu Buhari.
On the Epe raid of Ambode’s home a source close to him described it as part of the grand plot to destroy the former governor politically in Lagos.
” Those who are behind this know themselves and in the fullness of time the truth will prevail and history will judge everyone. But as for Ambode, Lagosians and Nigerians know why he is being hounded.”
