Buhari bars ministers from direct contact, orders them to chief of staff, SGF

Ministers in President Muhammadu Buhari cabinet who would be getting the portfolios on Wednesday, August 21 would no longer have direct contact with him.

 

Effective after swearing in, their first contact over matters they want to table with him would be his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari through whom all correspondence and meeting requests would be scheduled.

 

If the matters relate to the Federal Executice Council, Buhari advised the ministers to relate fiirst with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.

 

Buhari told them: “In terms of coordination, kindly ensure that all submissions for my attention or meeting requests be channeled through the Chief of Staff, while all Federal Executive Council matters be coordinated through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.”

 

Per Second News reported that that during Buhari’s first term some ministers by-passed the Chief of staff office to meet with the president.

 

It said a former minister from the South South was notorious in the act, according to sources in the Villa.
