A major fire incident that would have razed Eni-Njoku, a male hostel of the University of Lagos was averted on Thursday, October 17 night, Armadanews.com has learnt.
The incident that started at about 10:40 p.m. emanated from an apparently overused electricity supply meter.
There was a sudden flame that gushed out from the meter situated on the third floor of the hall, in between Rooms G313 and G315.
The ferocity of the flame got the students who were preparing for the examinations next week panicking as there was no fire extinguisher available.
When it appeared the hostel was going to be burnt down, a number of the students had to call the hall warders’ attention, but gradually, the flame died down on its own.
