One week after the unfortunate passing of one of the sons of political heavyweight, Tony Anenih, Eugene, his firm, DLS Marine Limited has been hit by scandal over ownership and controlling shares in the business.
Eugene Anenih slumped and died on Sunday, May 14 at the Ikoyi Club where he was playing tennis to the shock of family and friends.
The mother had died weeks earlier and has not been buried before Eugene’s unfortunate death.
He was himself buried on Friday, May 19 in Lagos amid uncontrollable cries and lamentations.
But a bigger shock has gripped family and friends as Armadanews has learnt that Eugene’s business partner, a Bulgarian whose name we could not immediately ascertain is currently helping security agents to unravel the circumstances surrounding allegation that he resorted to change the documents of the company’s ownership and share holding without the consent of the Anenihs.
On Saturday, May 20, our source disclosed that both the police and immigration officials are in the know of the matter, and are dumbfounded over what the Bulgarian had done within a twinkling of an eye since his business partner died just a week ago.
To underscore the Bulgarian’s alleged crafty nature, our source said even though he resides at the Lekki area of Lagos like Eugene, he was noticeably absent at the burial ceremony of his partner.
Armadanews learnt that Immigration came into the matter while looking at his resident permit and other migration documents, particularly after some of his workers petitioned that the man has not been paying them salary. He was said to have come to Nigeria in 2004, worked at Work Ship Africa and later ABS Marine before he joined forces with Eugene to start DLS Marine Limited.
Eugene, sources said, owns 50 per cent of the share capital of the company.
The Anenihs, we learnt are expected to deliberate over the development on Sunday, May 21 with people allegedly already blaming them for allowing the Bulgarian such latitude to run the company. Many think it was the reason he had the opportunity to know its secrets and how to act criminally over the company.
