The Court of Appeal in Cross River State has nullified the election that produced Senator Chris Ekpenyong of the People’s Democratic Party.

The court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct another election within 90 days.

Mimister of the Niger Delta, Godwill Akpabio had challenged the election that produced Ekpenyong in the February 23 election for alleged irregularities.

The State Election Petitions Tribunal had earlier ruled in favour of Ekpenyong but Akpabio proceeded to the Appeal Court.

In its ruling on Saturday the court ordered a fresh election in the troubled local government in Akwa Ibom State where Akpabio claimed he was rigged out in favour of Ekpenyong, a former deputy governor of the state.
