Deputy Governor of Imo State, Eze Madumere, has cleared the hospital bills of four families who were admitted at the Federal Medical Centre Owerri for treatment but could not be set free because they lacked the resources to do so.

He did on Monday, May 22 when he stumbled on four patients in the pediatric ward of Federal Medical Center, Owerri Imo State in dire circumstances.

Madumere had extended the kind gesture when he visited FMC to see the daughter of one of his aides, Emma Abu who was admitted for burns from hot water, which was said to have been caused by a domestic accident. He had obviously gone to pay the bills of his aide’s ward.

In the process of sympathizing with other patients, Madumere has sought to know how the kid-patients in the ward were fairing only to be told by the nurses their predicament.

He was moved by their plight of the patients who ought to have been discharged but for lack of money to pay their bills.

Madumere thereafter requested to have their bills, which he proceeded to pay in full.

The beneficiaries were said to have been in the hospital between one and two months.

Those who benefited were Derek Peter and parents, Francis Victoria, Chinonyerem Rejoice, Mrs. Eunice Chibiko and her baby, Eliezer among others who received cash gifts for up-keeps.

However, Madumere encouraged Nigerians to always extend hand of charity to the less privilged, saying such is the only way to encourage them in their temporary financial challenges.

He also described the act of giving as a command from God, saying that giving brings about fulfillment since riches mean nothing if the needy are not given hope.
