Mohammed Adoke, Nigeria’s former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice was picked up by security operatives suspected to be from the anti-graft agency when he arrived Abuja on Thursday from Dubai, United Arab Emirate.
Adoke arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 3:45 pm and was immediately approached by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who beckoned on him to come with them to their Abuja office.
Adoke had traveled to UAE for medical checks on November 11 and insinuations were rife he was running away with calls of extradition echoing all over the government circles.
Adoke is facing charges on alleged abuse of office and money laundering, particularly in connection with the granting of the Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 245 to Shell and ENI.
It is believed the EFCC has an arrest warrant issued by a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory to arrest Adoke.
