The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Thursday, June 1 at the Stade Municipal de Saint Leu La Foret, Paris, France humbled the Hawks of Togo 3-0 in an international friendly match.

The encounter is the last of the preparations of the team ahead of the 2019 AFCON qualifier against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa that comes up in Uyo on Saturday, June 10.

In the international friendly, the Super Eagles confirmed their superiority over their neighbouring West Africa country even with the absence of their key players.

Skipper John Mikel Obi; Victor Moses, Godwin Ideye as well as first choice goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme were some of the Super Eagles key players who were not in the match.

Ahmed Musa put Nigeria in front in the third minutes after a great work by Arsenal’s teenager, Alexi Iwobi. Barely 14 minutes after, Musa made it two also with assist from Iwobi.

Oghenekaro Etebo pockets the Hawks goalkeeper, Alassani and laid a fine pass for Manchester City player, Kelechi Iheanacho who with an easy tap made it three for Nigeria in the 27th minutes to end the first half 3-0 in favour of Nigeria.

On resumption of the second half, Nigeria’s technical bench made four quick substitutions with Uche Agbo replacing Oghenekaro Etebo; Henry Onyekuru replacing Wilfred Ndidi; Victor Osimhen coming in for Ahmed Musa and Tyronne Ebuehi replacing Abdullahi Shehu.

However, the changes had little or no effect on the outcome of the match as the two teams played out their hearts but scores remained 3-0 in favour of Nigeria.

With the victory Nigeria extended her winning streak from six to seven in 17 encounters between the two countries, losing only three and drawing seven times.
