Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma has expressed his readiness to partner with good-willed persons and groups for the development of Imo.
His counterpart from Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu also said he will stop at nothing to immortalise her mother in-law who did a lot for society and church before she dies at the ripe age of 89.
Governor Uzodinma stated this at the funeral service of Late Nneoma Chinyere Dora Anyanwu, mother of the First Lady of Ondo State, Betty-Anyanwu Akeredolu at Christ Anglican Church Emeabiam, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State on Friday, March 13, 2020.
Governor Uzodinma extolled the impeccable qualities of Nneoma Dora Chinyere Anyanwu during her sojourn on earth as testified by all who came in contact with her in her life time.
He said: “We are today here because of the death of one of our best and brightest Mama. I am told she was a community mobilize, a leader, philanthropist and committed woman. She was committed in all activities of the church and community affairs.”
Governor Uzodinma stressed the need to immortalize an amazon like Mama Dora Anyanwu and assured that Government will support any project embarked upon to write her name in gold.
While acknowledging his counterpart and in-law, His Excellency, Governor Akeredolu of Ondo state, Governor Uzodinma encouraged him to actualize those ‘Good things’ he promised his in-laws for the betterment of the people, adding that he will always enjoy his support once they are people oriented.
Citing the book of Romans Chapter 8:38-39 in his sermon, the Bishop of Egbu Diocese, Rt. Rev Geoffrey Okorafor, harped on the need to remain attached to the love of God and never be separated from it by mundane things of the world.
He described Mama Dora Anyanwu as an amazon and a quintessential woman who has written her name in gold before departure to glory.
For Governor Akeredolu, it was a period of heartfelt appreciation to his kit and kin, friends, in-laws and well wishers who thronged to make the burial of his mother-in-law worth the while.
Among eminent personalities present at the occasion were: Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, his deputy Dr. Ajayi and wife, Mrs. Akande, representative of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly and his team, Ondo State Deputy Chief Judge, some traditional rulers from both states and other government officials.
