Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has once more charged the interim management chairmen of the 27 local government area in his state to always have the poor and vulnerable in mind whenever they want to design policies.

The governor also told the council chairmen to ensure that they do not do good governance without playing politics as they are his representatives at the grassroots.

Governor Uzodimma spoke on Friday at the Sam Mbakwe Exco Chambers Government House Owerri when the 27 IMC chairmen paid him a courtesy call.

He reiterated his earlier pledge to work in the interest of the weak in the society, admonishing the council bosses to always think the same way.

He promised to support them in all their endeavours in office and reminded them not to be distracted by the things they see around them in the course of governance.

The governor acceded to their request to have them distribute some palliatives that were given to the communities through them recently by the government and to have council workers who have been at home as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic resume work.

Earlier in his speech on behalf of his colleagues, the chairman of Oru West Council and chairman of the IMC chairmen, Willie Okolieogwo commended the governor for his care for the local governments through the provision of facilities the committees needed to do their work.

He thanked Governor Uzodimma for putting in place facilities of effective security in the councils, the provision of Ambulances to all the councils and the allocation of enough resources to carry out renovation work in their domains.

Okolieogwo promised that they will continue to support the governor in his vision to take Imo state to an enviable height.
