Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has described teachers as invaluable partners in progress that the society cannot do without.
Uzodimma also said that societal development is incomplete without the role teachers play in complementing that of parents and other stakeholders in the upbringing of our children.
The Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the governor, Mr. Oguwike Nwachuku said in a statement that Governor Uzodimma’s assessment of the role of teachers was in commemoration of this year’s World Teachers Day 2020.
World Teachers Day is a day set aside since 1994 to celebrate teachers, particularly as partners in the development of our society through teaching.
Governor Uzodimma congratulates teachers all over the world for today, October 5, and particularly teachers in Imo State for their resilience and commitment towards the upbringing of our children.
He charged them to use the occasion of the World Teachers Day to reflect deeply on areas of improvement in their career with regard to the services they render to the society and assured them of government commitment to their welfare, good working relationship and environment that will help to bring out the best in them.
The governor said it is not by accident that schools in Imo State are resuming today, October 5, that the teachers are being celebrated worldwide, and appealed to our teachers to ensure that they work together with parents, government and other stakeholders to ensure that the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic is kept at bay in the schools in Imo State.
