The protests against police brutality and extra-judicial killings continued on Friday as Super Eagles defender Leon Balong and French Malang Sarr joined in the call for disbandment the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) over alleged brutality, extortion, illegal detention and harassment of young Nigerians.

In separate tweets, the football stars backed the call, having seen photos and video online showing brutality meted on Nigerians.

Balogun, who plays for Scottish Premiership club Rangers, said we (Nigerians) need to ensure Peace reigns before anything else.

According to the Nation, his tweet read: “I feel so touched by what is going on in Nigeria now. You have my full support! We all need to come together & make sure this ends now. Peace first before anything!”

Similarly, Sarr who is currently on loan to FC Porto from Chelsea expressed dismay at the recent occurrence as a result of SARS brutality.

He said: ”I feel so touched by what is going on in Nigeria now. You have my full support! We all need to come together & make sure this ends now. Peace first before anything!”

The protesters have hit the streets in cities across the country including Delta, Lagos, Osun, Oyo, and Abuja states.
