Businesses are endangered as millions of MTN subscribers are still unable to recharge their phones or carryout transactions through the USSD services after banks shut off the telecoms firm over disagreement on fees charged for the USSD service by the service provider.

As of late Friday  night, MTN subscribers were still unable to carryout transactions online, a development  that could result in lost of several billions of naira daily.

Meanwhile, the MTN has advised its subscribers to use alternative means of recharging their phones.

“Dear Customer, our bank recharge channels are currently unavailable. Kindly recharge using physical cards. We apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you,” MTN said.

It added: “Please be informed that some of MyCustomers may not be able to purchase airtime and data recharges via banks including MOD and myMTN App.

Please pacify MyCustomers and educate them to use MTNTopit, MoMo channels, as well as the debit card options on MOD or myMTN App.”

The row between the banks and telcos pertained to what banks should earn from every recharge.
