President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, approved the appointment of DIG Usman Alkali Baba as Acting Inspector of Police (IGP).
He replaces Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, whose tenure ended on the 4th of February but got a three months extension from President Buhari, out of which he spent two months and three days.
The erstwhile police boss was in Owerri, the Imo capital for inspection of the police headquarters, Owerri, attacked by hoodlums believed to be members of IPOB/ESN, when his removal was announced by the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi.
Born on the 1st of March 1963, the new Ag IGP hails from Yobe state. He obtained a Masters in public administration from the University of Maiduguri, Borno state in 1997 and a Bachelor of Arts from the Bayero Usman University, Kano in 1985.
